Please read our terms and conditions carefully before making any training or behaviour bookings to ensure that you, the client agree to our terms and conditions.
Our terms and conditions are set in place for the welfare of you, our clients and your dogs and by booking any of our services you, the client acknowledge that you have read, understood and automatically agree to our Terms and Conditions for the required service.
Definitions:
For these Terms and conditions:
- “You”, “Your”, “the Client” or “the guardian” refers to you, the individual who requested and booked the service.
- “We”, “Us”, “Our” and “Me” refer to Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour.
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour also extends to the name of Amy Healey.
- “Agreement” means the quotation and acceptance of the following terms and conditions.
- “Services”, Consultations” and “Work” refer to training and behaviour services, handouts, written reports, email and WhatsApp support provided by Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour.
We at Behind the Mind Canine Training and Behaviour reserve the right to update our terms and conditions at any time with immediate effect and it is your responsibility as the client to read and keep up to date with them. Our terms and conditions apply to all work carried out and created by Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour.
Entire Agreement:
- Once you have made your application of inquiry, we will endeavour to respond within two to four working days (excluding holidays or sickness), via the format of preferred communication (Email, WhatsApp, Telephone call).
- A discovery call may be offered if we need to gather further information on your dog’s behaviour, to determine which of our services is best suited and whether we at Behind the Mind can provide the right individuals to help you and your dog.
- In rare cases, referrals to another party may be advised such as “A Clinical Animal Behaviourist”. (CCAB).
- Behind the Mind, reserves the right to refuse to provide a service or create work at its discretion.
- If you, book any of our services we do not confirm your booking until full payment for the consultation has been received.
- Behind the Mind, reserves the right to collect payment at the time of each booking, which we will provide payment details at the time of progressing your application.
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour do not take responsibility for misinterpretation of our advice or training and behaviour programs created by us.
- The work created by Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour is charged to the client at the agreed amount.
- All work created by Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour is for the sole purpose of the client and the dog under our services of assessment.
- The client does not have the right to pass on or resell any work created by Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour without written permission from Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour.
- The client shall agree not to sell, destroy, or alter any part of work created by Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour.
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour is not responsible under any circumstances for the lack of time, effort and circumstances from the work, by the client.
- For the most part, treatment plans, will not be successful overnight and require a good deal of time, training and patience from the client.
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour encourages clients to contact their veterinary Surgeon before booking a behaviour consultation to rule out any underlying medical conditions before we assess and implement a behaviour modification program for the dog. Once booked and paid for, there is no refund available.
- It is the responsibility of the guardian to ensure you have adequate pet or household insurance cover for liability in the unlikely event of damage to the property or injury to a third party caused by their dog.
- It is strongly recommended that your dog is insured for third-party liability with or without vet cover.
- It is the client’s responsibility to ensure their dog is wearing a collar and identity tag that is in guidance with the Control of Dogs Act 1992 when walking and/or training in a public place.
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour cannot take any responsibility for the dog.
Guarantee:
- All theoretical and practical sessions will be carried out by Amy Healey and on occasion we may enlist the help of an experienced trainer to assist with both theoretical and practical sessions however this will be discussed with the client before the session commences.
- Behind the mind, Canine Training and Behaviour will create the agreed work for the use of the client by receiving payment.
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour will create training and behaviour modification programs to the specifications and individual needs of the problems assessed during your first initial consultation.
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour will make amendments to the existing training and behaviour modification programs accordingly.
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour reserve the right to withhold all resources until payment has been successfully received by the client.
- Behind the Mind Canine Training and Behaviour reserve the right to reschedule or cancel any puppy, adult dog training and behaviour consultation in the event of an emergency or due to adverse weather conditions including temperatures rising 23 degrees or above, or 21 degrees or above for brachycephalic dog breeds. This also applies to the colder weather, -3 degrees or lower for short-haired, fragile dog breeds and -6 degrees or lower for dog breeds with thicker coats.
Exempt Dogs:
- We do not discriminate against breeds therefore we are open to working with breeds that are exempt as long the correct guidelines are adhered to.
- You are responsible for ensuring correct guidelines for exempt dogs are adhered to by the Index of Exempt Dogs Act.
- We have the right to refuse any service if your dog is not neutered, microchipped or kept under control at all times.
- We may refuse our services if we believe the dog is dangerously out of control or if the welfare and safety risk to our team is compromised.
- It is your, the registered guardian’s responsibility to take out third-party insurance for personal injury to a third party.
- You, the registered guardian must be present and in control of the exempt dog during all personal training or behaviour consultations.
Disclaimer:
- You remain responsible for your dog at all times by keeping them under control whilst in a public place using adequate tools to prevent any harm or injury occurring in the future towards individual members of the public. Safety precautions may include keeping your dog on a lead, using a muzzle correctly fitted, informing third parties of your dogs’ aggressive tendencies, not interacting with other third parties or other animals, including dogs, and implementing measures of confinement behind doors, fencing, and baby gates.
- You remain responsible for preventing harm or injury, including fatal injury to other animals and people.
- Treatment for any level of aggression is not a guarantee of success and modifying behaviours does not ensure that aggression will be successfully controlled especially if the dogs’ emotions and behaviours naturally change due to factors of health, age, relationship, genetics and environmental changes will require a modified behaviour plan.
- You remain responsible to ensure risks to a third party are limited, including our team.
- Behind the Mind Canine Training and Behaviour reserve the right to cancel your session if the correct guidelines are not adhered to.
Payment of Services:
- You must pay Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour the full price of the service before the first consultation and training session as agreed on, upon booking.
- If payment is delayed and we do not receive it within a timely fashion, as agreed at the time of booking then Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour reserve the right to withhold all our services and work created by us.
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour expects the first full payment by electronic bank transfer (BACS) and details will be provided in your invoice.
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour expect all other training and behaviour consultations to be paid, in full and upfront at the end of each practical session at the time of booking in your next session. Your follow-up sessions should be paid in full by electronic bank transfer (BACS) cash or card payment where available.
- Behaviour packages that are being paid in full must be paid by electronic bank transfer (BACS) at the time of initial booking.
- Any payment returned to the bank, card company or late payment will incur a £10 admin fee as well as charges made by the bank.
- It may be necessary for the more complex issues or multiple behaviour problems that a follow-up training or behaviour visit is recommended. Any follow-up visits, should they be required, will be charged accordingly and you will be advised in advance of the cost which must be paid before the booking is confirmed.
Cancellation and Refunds:
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour may terminate any service agreed upon at its discretion:
- If the client fails to pay which has become overdue. If the client breaches any of our terms of terms and conditions agreement.
- If the client's use of work imposes unethical, misleading and or abusive training methods.
- If the client is not present for the scheduled consultation and is late for more than thirty minutes.
- If the client is abusive and or disrespectful to any member of Bthe behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour team or our reputation.
- If the client regularly cancels consultations and or wants to reschedule.
- The client may cancel the agreement at any time but may be invoiced for the full amount quoted in which the work has been completed and on which the extent of time we have allocated to your service, and we are unable to generate revenue that would otherwise be lost.
- All 1:1 sessions require a minimum of 36 hours’ notice of cancellation which a rescheduled date may be offered to another date, subject to availability.
- Any cancellations with less than 36 hours' notice will be charged at full price and will not be rescheduled unless genuine emergencies, which will be at Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviours discretion.
- Multiple and continuous rescheduling will be charged at the cost of a full training or behaviour session to you, the client.
- Refunds cannot be given for home visits that have been completed.
- Refunds for behaviour packages that have been paid upfront, in full, (excluding pay-as-you-go) and not yet complete may be granted in the event of the animal being rehomed and no longer in the possession of the owner or if the program has been terminated by us for a referral to another party such as Clinical Animal Behaviourist.
- If the animal has been rehomed to a third party, payment cannot be transferred to the animal’s new owner for the continuation of our services.
- No refunds will be issued unless in exceptional circumstances and agreed by Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour.
Locations of travel:
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour are based in Redditch, Bromsgrove, Birmingham, Worce, Droitwich Spa, Evesham and Alvechurch but also within a 20-mile radius from B98.
- All clients residing outside of the stated radius will incur a charge per visit for milage, which we will discuss accordingly at the time of the booking.
- All initial behaviour consultations are conducted at the client’s home where the animal is registered too and a location for the client's practical and follow-up sessions will be agreed upon with Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour at the time of each booking.
- All other services and a location for your session will be agreed upon by Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour at the time of booking per session.
- Once the location has been confirmed, it cannot be changed within 24 hours of your training and or behaviour session.
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training reserves the right to refuse to travel to certain areas if we believe the dog's welfare and safety are compromised.
Data Protection and Confidentiality:
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour with keep all clients' personal and sensitive details confidential and kept by the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour will not share any personal information of the clients with any third-party companies.
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour solely uses the client’s personal information for contact with bookings, further support and from time-to-time promotional emails.
- It is the client’s responsibility to notify Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour via email, if you do not wish to receive such communication from us.
- The information relating to the client, their property and pet(s) are stored by the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPRs) wherever the need arises.
- All personal information of the client will be deleted by the Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 1998, six months after the final consultation and where no further communication has been received between the client and Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour.
Photography and Video:
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour may take photos or videos for promotional and educational purposes.
- By agreeing to the Terms and conditions, the client gives Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour the consent to use such material on their website and social media.
- Practical sessions with children under the age of 16 years will not be filmed unless consent from the guardian, has been agreed upon and a signature from the relevant guardian has been provided:
I, the guardian give Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour full consent and permission to film and use the footage of the photos and videos taken of our child/ren for the use of promotional and educational purposes only such as social media and website.

Training Methods:
- To ensure the welfare of our dogs, Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour only advocate the use of positive reinforcement methods for all of the services provided.
- Behind the Mind, Canine Training and Behaviour do not advocate any of the following training tools or methods in any of our sessions:
- Prong Collars.
- Full or half check/choke chains.
- Slip leads.
- Electric shock collars.
- Citronella collars
- Rattle bottles,
- Spray bottles.
- Training discs
- French Ring Sport Collor also known as a Dominant collar or a Grot.
- Fear-based training techniques.
- Dominance or Alpha fear-based training.
- Any equipment we deem inappropriate will not be used and an alternative will be offered.
- Failure to comply with will result in immediate termination of your training or behaviour session and a refund will not be given.
